Former loyal customers of Hiscox have begun legal action this week as their claims are rejected to supposedly "support their own capital".
Multiple SMEs have taken unprecedented steps to defend their livelihoods as Hiscox refuses multiple claims.
“We took out the Hiscox business interruption insurance believing the company would honour its obligations... to find out that it has no intention of doing so simply because it is going to be expensive is shocking", claimed the Managing Director of just one of the businesses leading the attack, Rachel Pendered of Media Zoo.
In another move, the claims management company CEC has set up Hiscox Action Group this week to raise awareness of the insurance firm's failings.
Pressured for a response and ignoring government backed support, a spokesperson for Hiscox responded, claiming "...like terrorism and flood, which have government-backed insurance schemes, pandemics like coronavirus are simply too large and too systemic for private insurers to cover."
COVID-19 continues to ravage the U.K. economy, as small and medium businesses regret their insurance providers responses.
